27 October, 2014 – ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery, invites applications for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
ACM is the oldest and largest educational and scientific computing society with 108,000 members worldwide. The association has an annual budget of $60 Million, 75 full time staff in New York and Washington DC, a rich publications program that includes 50 periodicals in computing and hundreds of conference proceedings, a dynamic set of special interest groups (SIGs) that run nearly 200 conferences/symposia/workshops each year, initiatives in India, China, and Europe, and educational and public policy initiatives. ACM is the world’s premiere computing society. The ACM CEO serves as the primary executive responsible for the formulation and implementation of ACM strategic direction, for representing ACM in the worldwide computing community, and for overall management of the affairs of the association. The successful candidate will have high professional standing in the computing field, executive experience, leadership skills, and a vision of the future of professional societies and computing. The CEO reports to the ACM President. The CEO is not required to work from ACM's New York headquarters, but he or she must be able to travel frequently to headquarters and other ACM meetings.
